phpBB is a free threaded forum software that is written in php. The software made it's debut in the year 2000 and has been used to power numerous communities for over two decades. Free forum hosts such as Tapatalk and Forumotion use a modified version of the software.
Ease of Use
phpBB has a learning curve that may make newcomers weary of using the software. User group permissions can be difficult to set up for new admins. In order for members, admins, and moderators to view the board permissions must be set up correctly. The ACP can be difficult for new users to navigate.
